1950's Black Lace Over Silver Evening Dress
The lace on this vintage 50's dress is just breathtaking. It was very expensive we're sure, Jet black fine delicate sheer lace sprinkled with crystal rhinestones. The fabric underneath is a shimmery silver, we don't know what it's made of, possibly rayon. The combination is gorgeous. There's a metal zipper in the back, the bodice has some sort of stiffening material inside underneath the ivory satin liner. Not bones but like a soft cardboard fabric (for lack of a better description) of some kind. The skirt is not lined and it's a very full circle style. This has no tags and the bottom hem is not perfectly straight so that leads us to believe this may have been made by hand. It was done very well or we would never have it up for sale here. The shape of the darts and bodice is very nice as you can tell in the photos. A gorgeous vintage evening dress.
Condition Details: Lace looks almost new. It's very black and only 2 or 3 pea sized holes in the skirt that are totally invisible unless you hold it up to the light. NO holes on bodice. The inside liner has some yellowing at the underarms but it's not on the outside (see photos). Some minimal general wear but mostly just to the inside and a bit on the silver skirt.
