1950's Red Silk Cocktail Party Dress
This amazing 50's, evening, cocktail, party, vintage red dress was acquired from a lady who was a very successful stage actress in the 50's to the 70's. She went on tour with Billy Barty and other famous actors. The bodice is a super soft cashmere sweater fabric trimmed in the same red silk the skirt is made of. It has a metal zipper in the back with a bow at the top, very full skirt with some extra fabric at seams to let out... we took an up close photo of the tag next to the seams so you can see this. This dress is here, in the Discount Rack, because of the condition. It's easy enough to fix but we if we did it the dress would be very expensive...this way it's very affordable & the lucky new owner can do the work herself. We're trying to add more affordable items since we're all watching our money more closely now a days. Until the recession turns around (& it's on it's way) we'll be adding lower priced items as well as offering sales and lowering the prices of our regular dresses too.
Condition Details: All it needs is the skirt hemmed(see photos), and to freshen up the red colored silk skirt just get a bottle of RIT red dye or, better yet, take it in to have it professionally re-dyed. There's a bit of general wear to the silk from cleaning & it's wrinkled. There are also a few dark spots in the back (see the 2 up close photos of the spots)but they do get lost in the folds as they are in the crease. Again we took photos so there would be no surprises. Straps have a bit of wear and there is a pinhole in the cashmere where a broach was worn at one time(see photo).
